Found: Season 2 Episode 9 – Missing While Targeted Review

NOTE: Thoughts on previous episode here. SPOILERS in all posts.

Well, here I am, scrambling to get my thoughts out on last week’s episode before tonight’s episode (E10) airs for the east coast! And now that I’ve fixed the time zone issue with this blog, it will should post correctly.

Diving right in:

The Case of the Week

It was weird the client looked quite similar to Gabi; in fact, I was waiting for it to be a plot point. The two could easily pass as sisters. Once it became clear their resemblance wasn’t a deliberate clue to something, I wondered if maybe the actress was a relative of Shanola’s. They’re not related, but wow.

As for the case itself, the reason for the disappearance was a solid twist. Even though the client’s boyfriend was trying to be a better man, the client was devoted to having a struggle life by bringing a kid into that uncooked situation. “I love him!” Headass.

Gabi Mosely

I really don’t understand why Gabi thinks she can take a guy like Sir on by her 130lb self with some knuckle rings. And I’m baffled she no longer reacts with fear being so close to him without shackles. And not in public! She was within grabbing and chloroforming reach! Her fight mode had been tempered by having to follow his instructions and move farther away from the exits; she had time to realize she didn’t really know what she was walking into, and yet she wasn’t wary being mere feet away from him?

And she insists to him that Trent is brilliant? And good to the core? Tell me you’ve lost your mind without telling me you’ve lost your mind.

I’m so glad Lacey called Gabi out later on her self-destructive tendencies. Gabi seems to be on a suicide mission, always barreling toward danger.

“That one may smile and smile and be a villain.”

Detective Mark Trent

…Could easily have a successful side hustle as ‘Officer Trent,’ if you get my drift.

I appreciated shirtless Trent very much, and to no one’s surprise, he finally moved on (in a shallow way) from Gabi. The woman he had a one-night stand with? Most likely Hugh’s sister. Her name is Heather at the moment, and Hugh referred to his sister as Lena, but what’s in a name? This wouldn’t be the first name adjustment scenario. And the mysterious woman’s a criminal defense attorney? Obviously, her services are about to be utilized.

At first I was livid at Trent again when, even with the head injury, he insisted on treating Gabi like a criminal and taking her into the station. But by the end, it was clear he was just trying to stop her from doing a press conference, etc., on behalf of the missing person since he knew what was up and was helping to guard the guy (protective custody).

Trent was silly for wanting to explain the deliberately left behind bra to Gabi, though — she knows it’s none of her business. The two of them are not a thing, and he’s actively trying to put her behind bars, so what the hell? At least be smug about getting it on with someone else.

Overall, I’m getting whiplash with Trent’s characterization.

Hugh Evans

Hugh is so petty. I love it. “Your precious heavy boots might not be as pure as you think he is.” Spill the tea, Sir! Although Trent’s dad’s actions aren’t his.

Anyway, seeing Hugh shook at the mystery person’s arrival was quite the sight. And I am shocked he left Gabi untreated and alone! Head injuries are no joke. But this is TV land.🤷🏽‍♀️ The person who whacked Gabi in the head had to be his sister. Who else could get away with such an action?

As for the showdown between Hugh and Trent, it was delicious. Finally, they meet face-to-face, and Trent actually bared his teeth at Hugh’s mention of Gabi’s name! Still some deep stuff there. I look forward to the rest of the interaction. We all know the shot that rang out was a fake-out; both men are fine.

Exhausting Ethan

In one breath, Ethan divulges signing a new lease as a result of marital separation, and in the next, he’s salty when his husband answers the M&A call as usual. Like… you know this — it’s why you’re separating. And also, you knew this as his therapist, didn’t you? To some degree? Having privileged access to what makes Dhan tick? But I guess you’ll keep acting brand new.

As for kicking Gabi out of the hospital, I was definitely enraged on Gabi’s behalf, and I’m thoroughly done with Ethan. He was so disgustingly petty and selfish! He had no problem depriving Dhan of the comfort, support, and love of a dear friend out of sheer jealousy. Ethan is confirmed trash, even if he isn’t one of Sir’s accomplices.
On the other hand…*sigh* Gabi does have a boundaries problem, and I could see her barging in, trying to make decisions or override Ethan’s ‘seniority’ when it comes to Dhan. I can’t totally blame Ethan for wanting to remove her; Gabi is truly a piece of work sometimes. That face card at the hospital, though — immaculate. Hit up the high-end stores while you await news, Gabi!

Missing Margaret

Margaret’s absence was glorious while it lasted. I totally forgot about her until she showed up on the big screen, and then I realized I didn’t miss her at all during the episode. As much as I have come to loathe her, I always thought the part she played was integral to M&A, and I appreciated what she brought to the table. I thought I’d miss her a little if ever removed, but I did not!

Lacey/Bella

Lacey is so cute; she really brings sunshine to that very somber group. And her dad is Paul Bunyon, got it.

Final Thoughts

It amuses me that M&A are such assholes sometimes.

And Dhan stays wanting to square up! Pipe down, sweet prince. Well, I guess he has to take it easy now.

And where is Detective Shaker?

So I didn’t finish this post before the next episode airs on the east coast, but I’m still a few hours away from seeing it myself.

Hopefully, I’m quicker about the write-up next time.

And NBC, why are y’all like this with the lack of promo for upcoming episodes? I fear this is a bad sign.

NOTE: Thoughts on the next episode here.
