Review of Episode 5 here. SPOILERS, spoilers, everywhere.
I was so busy ‘flapping my gums’ in an online space for Episode 6, I didn’t make time to post my thoughts on it here. And even though I’ve watched (and I’m ready to review) Episode 7, I still have my original notes on this one, so here goes.
The Case of the Week
This case is the strongest of the season so far for me. Exciting, with surprising twists and turns… But I knew something was off with the victim right away. Her mom has issues too — how dare she show up talking about her daughter’s disappearance was Gabi’s fault? They’ve gone way too far blaming Gabi for everything. And insisting her daughter couldn’t possibly have a boyfriend? Witch, please. I know it’s the usual dramatic fake-out opening, but still. And she didn’t go to the cops first? What a lunatic. And she’s so sure Sir’s behind it? What does she need Gabi for if she’s so sure of everything? Everyone, including Gabi, is looking for Sir, so… Anyway, it’s funny the stepdad seemed to have an inkling what they were really dealing with. “Are you sure she didn’t run off?” Overall, the red herrings/misdirections came hard and fast — loved it. It was amusing seeing that hack author so turned on hearing Sir’s voice as he talked to Gabi! And it is absolutely wild Hugh Evans showed his face the way he did as a savior for the second kidnapped girl, especially so soon after the whole Lacey thing. Wow.
M&A Madness
What a bunch of loose cannons. Sure, we’ve known they were all broken in some way, but they’re all slowly but surely becoming undone. But Margaret gets handled with kid gloves, as per usual for those with the complexion for protection. Trent tells Marge he’ll help her no matter what, even though she could’ve killed the guy she assaulted — she hit him and he tumbled down some stairs; he could’ve landed at the wrong angle! I know there’s a chance Trent was buttering Marge up to give him info for his case as per usual cop tricks, especially since he was leading her to blame Gabi for losing her cool, but yikes.
Dhan & Ethan
Dhan and hubby still have no chemistry and their relationship is highly unethical and weird considering how it began (therapist-patient). I can’t believe Ethan is maddest at being told the secret after Dhan’s coworkers — petty. Besides, M&A counts as 1, so he was 2nd or 3rd, not 5th. People are theorizing he’s Sir’s helper, especially since his reaction to being told this huge thing was so muted. Could be, I guess; maybe Sir is blackmailing him. I do think he will betray Dhan and pass the confession along to Trent. One way or another, he will be revealed as a traitor.
Yes, Sir!
Every scene with Sir was hot. Shirtless, getting his wound dressed. Then later, strolling into M&A all fresh and clean with his hair touched up, sleek clothing, and black leather gloves! Oh, my… those gloves 😍. I mean, it was creepy how he expected to come upon Gabi alone, but MPG is a snack, I’m sorry. Anyway, the gloved hands attending to his stab wounds earlier seemed rather small, which makes me think female or small-handed man. At this point, I’m still leaning toward Lena as the accomplice.
Maniac Marge
As for the scene with Margaret, excellent TV. I’m not sure I breathed as I watched the interaction. MPG as Sir is so entrancing. And as much as I can’t stand Margaret, her actress is tremendous. It sucks that I hate Margaret so much now; the actress is a gem, and what the character brings to M&A cases is fun. Too bad they went so far making her a cunt — I couldn’t even get feels for the ending scene; I HATED that Gabi and Lacey showed up for her in the rain. It obviously wouldn’t bother me if she showed an ounce of empathy for Gabi, who is really deserving it, y’all! Why does Maggie deserve all of this consideration and compassion? Her trauma is the most common for the human population (losing a child). I don’t know a single person who has been kidnapped (much less the rest of the details). But people who have lost their kids? Yes. The constant coddling and accommodation of Margaret is just more of this:

In Conclusion…
Go Keesha (directing)!
And I loved the way Gabi said “Not now, Trent” when he began his nonsense. Likewise, the way Sir cut his eyes and sucked his teeth when Margaret told him her first theory… amazing.
I look forward to seeing how Sir will touch the rest of M&A.
Oh, and I’m glad Gabi had a moment of gathering M&A regarding her Sir expertise! Dhan also had a moment gathering the rest of the team. How is it he’s more ride-or-die than Lacey?
