Thoughts on previous episode here.
Twenty-five minutes till the new episode airs on the east coast as I begin this…
Gabi Mosely
Sigh. I’m sick of Gabi and her guilt. Gabi, you’re fine. The verdict: Not guilty. Let’s move on, please? Hopefully with the theme of guilt/forgiving oneself (Violet, Margaret), we’re moving past Gabi feeling like she has to throw her life away because she delighted her tormenter and most obsessed fan by holding him in her basement.

“Take your own advice, no more self-punishment,” Lacey said. You tell her, Lacey!
Gabi’s always willing to do so much for horrible mom, Margaret, and so little for herself. Can we see her having a spa day or something? Damn. Show me some self-care she does because I don’t understand how she hasn’t shorted.

And none of the press people asked about her being booked? No one thinks there might be some truth to her deeds?
Jamie Reed
Amazing how just anyone can be brought to an active crime scene in this world…
Jamie is so up in M&A business, extremely interested in all their skills/talents…but especially Gabi. Li’l boy, stop obsessing over Gabi, please. What’s going on here?
And what did you go through? How were you raised the past 13 years? I was mostly Team Imposter last episode, but I’m now Team It’s (Messed Up) Jamie.
“I don’t remember that from before,” he says in a way that seems solid. And he handed over his DNA nonchalantly to be tested.
Christian Evans
Unless the actor has scheduling conflicts, it makes no sense to kill Christian. And off-screen! So I don’t believe it yet. But let’s say they did, in fact, invest all of that time and the casting, only to disappear him like he was barely there — it definitely wasn’t a matter of suicide. So if he’s really dead, Crazy Eyes Heather did it.
I hope he’s not really dead, though. Trent supposedly found Christian’s body, and Trent has harbored a witness before. So I have a few reasons to hope.
Hugh Evans
I have to be honest — I pretty much waited all episode for the moment Gabi and Hugh were in the same space again. It took a while, and it was short, but I’ll take it.
“It’ll never be over between us,” he told her. In real life, this kind of guy is likely to kill the object of their obsession. But in the show world, not only is he dead below the waist, he just seems determined to get her to agree with him and go off into the sunset to analyze books together. And he’s just going to keep trying. Until someone offs him, I guess.
Other Thoughts
The case of the week was fine. It’s what the show is mostly supposed to be about, but lightning in a bottle showed up with Shanola Hampton and Mark-Paul Gosselaar and here we are. It’s Olivia-Fitz/Abbie-Ichabod level chemistry…without the romantic undertones. Some shows squander this gift, others capitalize. This show is walking a fine line so far.
According to what I see in forums, some people wish the show focused more on the cases, but those are generally low stakes and not that compelling.
SVU was, by its nature, compelling; high ick factor.
Found is more…wholesome. And most people are found alive and get lots of hugs with dramatic emotional music.
So yeah—it’s best to expand the lives of M&A to fill the space.
And definitely keep Sir lurking.
5 minutes till show time EST. I still have to wait 3 hours.
