Found: Season 2 Episode 11 – Missing While Misunderstood

Thoughts on previous episode here.

Once again, I’m scrambling to write this review before the new episode debuts. And I had extra time! Ah well, here we go (spoilers, of course)…

Maddening Margaret

This wench. She couldn’t help herself and had to bring things back to herself right away when talking about the wall of people who didn’t make it back home. For narrative planting purposes, sure, but needless to say, she still annoys me. And I still find her untrustworthy. The actress is playing her as if she’s duplicitous and still taking great pleasure from Gabi’s impending downfall.

Gorgeous Gabi

Shallow note: Shanola was wearing the heck out of the first outfit (with black leather pants). Sure, she wears the heck out of all of them, but that one was *chef’s kiss*

As for as the narrative, it’s interesting Gabi seems to be so invested in Trent’s well-being. Not to sound psycho, but all of a sudden, she seems to really care about him. She sounded so panicked when she thought he might have been shot. Fine, I can see how that might sound psycho.

It’s just that there was a moment in another episode where she had an uncharacteristic panicked reaction when she thought he was in danger, clutching her belly. I understand she cares for him, but…I don’t know. It seems she cares for him way more than she’s letting herself believe? Or the actress is just adding drama to add to the tension. Which is a great choice. Keep us guessing, boo! 👍🏽

Gabi was also hilariously aggro this episode. Is Dhan rubbing off on her? He’s always ready to square up.

Delightful Dhan

Loved how Dhan stopped Trent from spinning booking Gabi into being a favor, my god. Hilarious and unbelievable. Trent is…something.

Dhan also seemed almost triggered by the bio dad from the case of the week. He was so mad at him for being a flop father. I look forward to more of Dhan’s backstory. I know he had the friend with the addiction issues, but this case seemed to hit him in a personal way regarding fathering.

Christian Evans

He didn’t appear in person, but he was present in Heather’s obvious lie.

I’m no fan of Christian, and I’m not sure how much I mistrust him at the moment, but I do. Still, I don’t think for a second he had anything to do with the shooting. It’s nonsensical. The last time we saw him, he was down for the count, Family Guy fall style. And whenever he got up, not a chance he somehow got Trent’s gun and did all that mess. Heather’s so full of it; let’s just go to her…

Hello, Heather

She is so obviously a plant by someone, most likely Hugh. I still think she’s the Evans half-sister under a different name. In any case, she seems nuts. She is shady and not to be trusted, at minimum. And if she is the Evans sister, why does she hate Christian so much?

My theory has returned to Christian killing their mother and blocking it out. In this case, if she witnessed it, she’s been mad at him that he killed her mom since childhood. The dead mom and the fire no doubt resulted in splitting the Evans kids up in foster care or so she might be mad it all snowballed into their family splintering more.

Anyway, she’s so weird talking about Trent the way she did to Gabi. Ma’am, no one cares about Trent! Okay, Gabi did show some care earlier, but have at him, blondie! I usually feel some kind of way when shows do that disposable girl thing to black women, using them as a placeholder until the white woman prize, but not this time.

BAMF: Gina!

Wow. Lacey’s mom came through like a boss. What a scene! Unexpected and absolutely delightful. She really read Hugh Evans for filth.

I couldn’t blame her for not being able to shoot him. Who could? Look at him.

Sir

I shouldn’t be thinking, MPG is so fine at every opportunity. Yet, here I am.  And honestly, he looked hot as hell grabbing the rifle from Gina.

He made it so obvious he was at M&A; I’m confused why he asked Gabi, “You knew?” Wasn’t she supposed to?

Case of the Week

The case of the week was fine. Thought it was a gay couple at first, but it was an interesting angle to have the bio dad vs. the foster dad.

And I loved Gabi’s ‘standing in the gap’ reference.

Shoutout to the case worker who looked at Gabi twice like, Bish, who is you? Calm down. Appropriate, to be honest — Gabi comes across unhinged sometimes.

Everything Else

So glad Detective Shaker is back! She’s one of my favorites.

And Zeke, yes, Margaret is a bad mother. She literally abandoned two whole kids — stop playing.

It’s cool Gabi had a part in Bella’s new name/rebirth. And Bella/Lacey finally spoke again! Yay. I look forward to Flashbacks: Gabi’s College Years. Please give us some flashbacks! Gabi dating! Trying beer (I dunno)! Etc., etc. With Sir lurking, of course.

As for the final scenes…

At Gabi’s gentle arrest, Trent appeared deeply emotionally compromised. At least… well… good on the actor for playing it that way. He even looked besotted with Gabi still. Sure, regret maybe for pushing things so far, but he still feels into her in that scene.

And also, hold on… upon second watch, the song playing pressed into my head pretty hard. The lyrics: “It was someone that was close by” playing with Hugh and Trent. I saw someone theorize it before, but is Trent actually one of his accomplices??? Nah 🤔

Jamie Reed

Obviously, Jamie was going to show up with all the name dropping and other stuff leading to this point, but it was still interesting he popped up now because where does the story go from here? Lots of possibilities, and I’m here for the ride.

Some people think he’s an imposter, which would be highly interesting.

Margaret, the great observer, could easily get sucked into ignoring signs due to wanting to believe.

That’s All, Folks!

Phew! Finished with 5 minutes to spare before the new episode debuts on the east coast. For me, I have a few hours to wait.

Here are my thoughts on the next episode. Watch it on Peacock.
