Okay, here I am, trying to post this review before the next episode airs (in about 1 hour as of this moment) yet again. I’ll have to add links and images later. EDIT: Thoughts on previous episode here. Getting right to it:
The cakes were caking this episode. And that includes…
Sir
Loved seeing him challenge Trent, and Trent getting a load of what he seems to consider his competition. And MPG was serving Detective Stabler cakes (IYKYK).
As well-formed a man as he is, and not slight-framed in the least, it seemed someone yanked him from the showdown scene. I have to assume it’s a male he fought against. But which one? Based on the rest of this episode, perhaps Christian. Who later made a very silly, impulsive decision to try to stop his brother once Hugh had made the decision to get ready to leave. Very odd to think things wouldn’t end up as they did with Hugh neutralizing him long enough to continue his plan.
Trent
Some really weird character actions this episode, more than usual. Why on earth would Trent be surprised the ball he got rolling wasn’t about to stop because he changed his mind? It made no sense he’d have a surprised Pikachu face that the chief was continuing his mission.
Loved seeing him get iced out by M&A later in the episode.
Ethan
Ethan is so goddamned annoying and I hope he goes away soon. He is astoundingly immature and lacking in insight, coping skills, etc. And very hypocritical. “I don’t read journals; I just date (and marry) my psychologically vulnerable clients. And then guilt them about the problems I knew they had.” He continued where Margaret left off, acting all high and mighty, pretending he doesn’t keep secrets. Honestly, I love the show, but some of these characters act like high-schoolers. He didn’t make sense in so many ways.
Dhan
You can’t keep a good man Dhan! I love him and Gabi so much. He gets mad at her for not allowing him to be there for her and protect her! Their relationship is great and they’re so stinking cute together.
The Rest of M&A
I didn’t mind Margaret’s return, I appreciated Lacey also brought the cakes 🍑, and I most certainly appreciated Lacey’s mom letting the team have it regarding their lack of action, care, etc. regarding Gabi’s impending arrest. She said what needed to be said, and quite well! Tell ’em, Mama.
Gabi
When isn’t there one? she muttered in the presence of Trent and the chief, in response to having a crazed man after her. Very interesting. A little bit of a crack there. And she’s right — when isn’t there a crazed man after her?
But the nerve of Trent to say she can lean on him! It’s like everyone’s nuts.
It was nice to see how Gabi appeared normal getting ready for college, amazingly effervescent in her excitement, considering everything that went down. So much laughter and light in her still. What happened?
Other Thoughts
Overall, it seems the redemption parade has begun regarding Trent, Margaret, and perhaps Ethan? But I’m not here for Trent or Ethan. I can tolerate Margaret now that she apologized, but I still hope Gabi feeds her with a long spoon.
On a shallow note, thanks again wardrobe department for Gabi’s black leather! Her body was bodying as usual.
And I liked Gabi’s super fan from the college. He was a bit weird, but I guess harmless? I don’t know — Gabi has the superpower of deranging others, male and female.
Okay, 35 minutes until the new episode…
